Frequently asked questions
We're here to help with any questions you have about the publishing splits editor.
What types of splits can I enter?
You can enter splits for compositions (publishing) and master recordings. Each includes detailed roles, territories, sub-publishers, and administrators if needed.
Can I assign different rights to different people?
Yes. Each participant can have custom publishing, writer, master, and admin rights—down to the percentage.
What if my splits don't add up to 100%?
That's OK. But let's work together to get you to 100%. Sound Credit guides you with a color-coded progress bar. Because we want 100% of the songwriters to get paid!
Can I generate a split sheet from this?
Yes. You can export or send a split agreement directly from the editor, with support for e-signature.
You’ll see who signed and who hasn’t. You can resend or adjust shares before finalizing.
Is this information exportable to PROs?
Yes. Split data can be exported to ASCAP, BMI, SOCAN, and other organizations using our PRO export tools.
You can view and edit splits from mobile, but generating contracts is currently only available on desktop.
Do I need to be an expert or a lawyer to use this?
No. We’ve built the Splits Editor to match real-world music deals without the legal complexity.
